The bridge from the public npm package starts a local stdio server that forwards to the address above:

What ViaFrei does not answer

So you don't look for what isn't there (in the server's own words):

No door-to-door routing or journey planning — ViaFrei answers about places, roads and feeds, never 'how do I get there'.
No city-street traffic: the live traffic we hold is the federal motorway network (Autobahn GmbH) and, where a feed carries them, federal roads.
No fares, tickets or booking of any kind.
No per-line public-transport realtime — ViaFrei never answers 'is the S1 on time' for a named line, trip or stop.
No weather forecast — official DWD warnings only, and only while they are in force.
No parking tariffs, and no promise that a space is free unless the operator publishes occupancy (see the parking section).

Where the data comes from

Every answer names its source. These are all the sources ViaFrei answers from today, with the credit line their licence requires (in German, as written):

Privacy in three sentences

You need no account with us, and we keep no questions under your name. These pages measure only if you agree; nothing is loaded from third parties before that. Server logs are kept briefly in a rotating buffer – everything else is in the privacy notice (German).
